Ten sentenced of cyber-bullying against Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has convicted ten people for engaging in the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the partner of French President, Emmanuel Macron.

The those on trial faced allegations of spreading false claims regarding her gender identity and sexuality, in addition to publishing malicious remarks about the husband and wife's age disparity of 24 years.

The court delivered conditional custodial sentences of up to eight months to the perpetrators. The full ruling has not yet been published.

A longstanding false narrative suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has existed since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.

This Monday's court decision in France comes as the Macrons engaging in a legal action for defamation in the US against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted comparable unfounded claims about the Brigitte Macron's identity.

Their complaint alleges that Owens brushed aside substantial counter-evidence disproving her claim choosing instead to give a platform to established defamers.

Owens has often echoed these allegations on her show and online platforms, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would risk all her credibility on her belief that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
